Now we’re going to talk about what the difference is between card present transactions and cardholder not present transactions. Card present transactions are made face-to-face using the chip and pin machine, where you’ve put your card into that terminal and entered in your pin number. Contactless payments and mobile payments are also in this category. The card not present transactions might be made online or over the phone, where you’ve verbally given your card details to an agent, or you’ve entered them into a telephone keypad where you’re not face-to-face with anybody making that purchase.
