International Men’s Day, observed annually on 19th November, is a global occasion to celebrate the positive contributions of men and boys to society while addressing the challenges they face. The 2024 theme, “Healthy Minds, Healthy Lives,” underscores the importance of mental well-being and overall health in fostering a thriving community.

To recognise this day, Key IVR are promoting a Wellbeing & Productivity workshop, presented by Stand For Development, encouraging all team members to attend. It will cover stress management and how to increase the quality of life.

Darren Wooding, Managing Director at Key IVR comments:

“We believe in supporting our coworkers by helping them find a healthy work/life balance, along with finding the best way to work through life’s challenges.

For International Men’s Day, we’d like to encourage our team to take the time to recognise the positive male role models in their lives, and consider how this year’s themes can be applied in everyday work and personal situations.”

The Purpose of International Men’s Day

First celebrated in 1999, International Men’s Day has grown into a worldwide movement. The day is not only about celebrating male role models but also raising awareness about issues such as mental health, suicide prevention, gender equality, and the importance of positive fatherhood. It provides an opportunity to recognise men who lead by example, support their families and communities, and challenge harmful stereotypes.

Addressing Mental Health

In 2024, the focus on mental health is timely and crucial. Studies consistently show that men are less likely than women to seek help for mental health challenges, often due to societal pressures to appear strong. Discussions on this day aim to destigmatise mental health struggles, encouraging men to seek support and open a dialogue about emotional well-being.

Fostering Gender Equality

International Men’s Day also emphasises the importance of gender equality. It works alongside International Women’s Day to promote harmony and mutual respect between genders. The day is a reminder that addressing inequalities and harmful norms can benefit everyone, creating healthier relationships and a more inclusive society.

How to Get Involved

  • Raise Awareness: Use social media to share messages and stories about the significance of men’s mental health and gender equality.
