Driven individuals form the foundation of Key IVR, producing a product and service that works seamlessly with our clients’ well-established operations.
Oliver Adams is one of our many talented employees. Working in our Business Development Team, he helps us achieve our ambitious growth by working with new prospects and liaising with our Account Managers to help identify their payment system needs.
- When did you start working at Key IVR?
July 2018 – I’d found the job advert online and thought it would be the perfect way to expand my sales skills. I’ve worked in similar set-ups previously and the fact that Key IVR is a family business really appealed to me.
- What does your role involve?
I’m responsible for new client acquisition. This basically involves researching companies and spending a lot of time building a rapport/relationship with them before they’re passed on to our account managers to help them with their specific needs.
- What is your favourite part about working for Key IVR?
There’s a really great team of people all working in a fast pace, dedicated atmosphere. Because it’s a small business, you also feel much more heard and valued as an individual. There’s always something new every day, with continuous support and on-going training.
- What have you gained from working at Key IVR?
I’ve never worked in a company where it’s been business-to-business sales, it’s just not something I’ve done before. I’ve certainly gained a lot of skills in this area from the down-to-earth and in-depth training from people that have done the job before and are familiar with the challenges that come with it (they have a great ability to empathise with you as a new starter).
- What’s a standard day in the office like for you?
Even though I’m spending a lot of time communicating with businesses, I’d say every day is different to the other. No matter what the day brings, there’s always something keeping me invested, with meeting new people on-the-daily being a great part of the job.
- What do you like to do on your days off?
“Guys days” are essential to unwind. I really enjoy spending the day playing golf, then going home to a barbeque and playing poker with a few drinks.
- Before working at Key IVR, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
So, I’ve never had an unusual job, but for one night only I was unfortunate enough to be a butler in the buff for a hen party. It was horrific.
- Describe what you were like at age 10.
I suppose I’ve always had a bit of a business mindset, I was the kid at school that sold chocolate bars to my classmates on the playground, I guess you could say I was a bit of a sweet entrepreneur. I also went around the local houses washing cars every now and then.
- Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
Fun fact! I have an unusual talent… I’m actually able to ride a unicycle whilst juggling.
- What music is on your phone?
Anything and everything! At the moment I’ve been listening to country and old school 80’s rock and roll, but I’m not biased.
- Where is your favourite place to eat?
I’d say I’m quite partial to some fried chicken from the local takeaway after a night on the town.
